Most of the content and pages on this site are to be found right here in the blog section. I’ve kept a daily blog since 2009 for the times I’ve been aboard and cruising. I’ve accumulated over 1500 posts over the years, plus numerous non-diary pages. Almost every day has a descriptive text entry (my family-safe online diary) along with several pictures.
Unfortunately, due to a hosting issue, the blog pages prior to 2022 have lost both their initial layout and formatting, making them read more like a book page rather than a web page. But at least the texts and pictures are still there for your viewing pleasure.

This stagnant water in the salt pond of Philipsburg had a particularly pungent smell.

I'm about to set off on passage to St. Martin in the very calm morning hours just after the sun cleared Prickly Pear Island.

2016-04-06

I'm only doing about 5 knots at the moment, but there's no waves, bright sunshine and the conditions are perfect

2016-04-05

This is a beer brewed on St. John and has a pleasant tangy taste.

2016-04-04

I've added an additional fan in the area where both compressors are located to ensure adequate airflow and hopefully increase the efficiency of both devices.

The morning sunlight makes these homes on the Peter Bay glow

2016-04-02

The colorful beach towel is my usual resting place, but the rain coming down made it into my shelter today and got the towel wet

After over a month of opening the fridge in humid conditions, the evaporator plates have a very large amount of ice on them, rendering them energy-inefficient and it was time to defrost. The fridge contents were placed in thermal bags while I tried to get the process of melting ice to go quickly
