I left the anchorage at Falmouth Harbour in the early morning hours and set sail for the BVI. The total distance is about 200 miles so the trip is going to take over a day, assuming the seas and weather don’t slow me down too much. The wind is coming from a bit south of east while the main ocean swell is coming from a bit further north. This means that I needed to rig a preventer line on the mainsail to keep the boom from flopping about while the boat rolls around. While it is more comfortable overall than beating into the wind, running downwind can be rather slow but the trades were helping me along with a sped of 6 knots or more and with the boom held captive by the preventer line it wasn’t too bad. occasionally a big set of waves would make life bad below, but I did get a lot of time on the computer to sort out the pictures from the Antigua Sailing Week and when the big waves hit I could hold myself (and the monitor) in place.

There’s little write about that would interest anyone reading this blog while I’m at sea so I’ll keep this entry short.

Original hosting provider breaks my old website

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every. Single. Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
