Arnd

While the competitors slept in after last night’s celebrations, some of the volunteers still had work to do. That group included myself and Hans, who needed to return our chartered catamarans to English Harbour. Hans had it a bit easier than I did, as his catamaran was on the outside and I assisted him in getting his lines off. I’d planned on asking a group of sailors loitering around the dock for help in casting off, but as soon as Hans departed they did as well so I was forced to get everything done alone. But luckily one only needs a single spring (even with a catamaran) and there was hardly any wind and no current so I was soon off the dock as well and on my way to English Harbour. I tied up alongside the other catamaran and Kathy soon came by to pick us up and return us to Falmouth by car. I said my goodbyes once we were there and walked to Customs & Immigration to clear out. Unfortunately I’d neglected to use the online system and didn’t have my password along, but the officers were kind enough to let me use the old paper and carbon-copy method and I filled out all the forms in duplicate and triplicate and cleared out.

I spent the afternoon getting my boat ready for the passage to the BVI and because my outboard was in the garage and my dinghy lashed to the deck I wasn’t going to go ashore for a final night and ended up doing a BBQ for the last time this season and finished an opened bottle of wine.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
