The anchorage was quite calm this morning and I’ve been here on Antigua far too long. I decided that it was time to head south and I planned on going into Falmouth harbour and anchoring there, then dinghying ashore and walking over to English Harbour and clearing out of Antigua from the offices there, dropping my malodorous garbage off on the way. Guadeloupe is just over 40 miles to the south and the conditions seemed good for the trip. On the way eastwards towards Falmouth I realized that the conditions were a bit more boisterous than I’d expected and I also realized that some of the work opportunities that I’d been communicating about on the computer in recent days might require a very quick start so perhaps I should head north and west again to be closer to my summer storage location. At the customs office I realized that I’d forgotten the password to the computerized clearance system, eSeaClear. After getting chewed out by the customs officer, he printed out my forms (after a suitably long wait while he finished his call; if I were a smoker it would have been a 2 cigarette delay) and after taking care of immigration at another desk, returning to customs, then going to the national parks desk and returning to the customs desk I was done.
Once I returned to the boat and got the dinghy outboard engine into the garage I opted to head back to Deep Bay for the night and then depart for St. Barths or St. Martin early the next morning. The destination would depend upon the sea state and waves.
