2014 Trip 2014-05-01

While May Day is a holiday in many countries, it was Race Day 4 here in Antigua and the conditions remained close to perfect for racing. The sea state had changed little and the winds were a bit lighter, but still sufficiently strong to make for a good set of races.

Once again, our committee boat functioned smoothly and the racers, accustomed to their boats and the local conditions by now, were a bit more aggressive on the start line and even our tail-end boats were doing much better in keeping up with the pack.

During our waiting period between the last start and the first finisher one of the big boys came by, the ICAP Leopard. I got out the camera and took some shots of it as it zoomed by us as if we were standing still (which we were…) and noticed that one of the crew members waving looked very much like Tayne. I took a shot or two of Tayne’s evil twin and didn’t mention the resemblance to anyone aboard because they would think that I was crazier than they already did. Then, somewhat later, the conversation turned to the ICAP Leopard and someone mentioned that Stephen and Tayne from Katzenellenbogen had been aboard that boat that day and that is probably why they had come close to us on the committee boat. I felt somewhat better that my imagination hadn’t been playing up with me, and it turned out that I was the only one aboard who hadn’t known about those two illustrious temporary crew members (I’d gotten a coffee upstairs that morning and that is when they’d come past and told of their plans for the day).

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
