2013 Trip 2013-04-06

With the rental car still in my possession, I wanted to use the day for shopping in the big industrial area of Jarry. I really wanted to get a bread maker and use the opportunity to stock up on Nespresso pods and also get various small stuff for the boat. I had forgotten that things close down early, and by 13:00 the stores were, for the most part, closing up for the weekend. I didn’t get a bread maker, but did get some coffee pods as well as some rum and other provisions for the boat.
Back aboard I finally got around to repairing my snubber before the strands frayed and departed along with my hard to replace metal hook; the short 3-strand splice was surprisingly easy to complete after the first set of tucks had been done, but I did have some help from a mariner on the next boat who seemed to have spent half his life splicing and could probably do this splice in the dark with one hand tied behind his back. He gave me some excellent pointers to make my future splices a bit easier, as well.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
