Sunrise
I had some of my last coffee this morning in the cockpit at sunrise. It promises to be yet another beautiful day in the Caribbean. I’m going to have to figure out a way to get to Carib Bean Coffee Roasters and resupply. The walk from English Harbour is just a bit too far for me to do and I won’t stoop to taking a taxi.
I do think that there might be a local bus that I can take. The Caribbean buses on the islands work quite well – you just flag down what looks like a mini person transporter with commercial or taxi plates and tell the driver shortly before you reach your destination. Fares are around $1 US.
Noon
I’ve got one cabin almost ready; I am missing 2 pillowcases and think that they might be back in the Jolly Harbour laundry. But I have 2 more nights to find replacements. I just got a text from Pam Mansfield out of the blue asking if they should pick up some coffee for me, as they are driving here from Jolly!
Pam has delivered the coffee, and my drug fix for the next couple of weeks is secured…
Afternoon
Plans are now changing. I have two guest cabins forward: one on the port side with 2 Pullman berths (and a manual toilet), and another on the starboard side with a much larger berth and a larger bathroom with my freshly repaired electric head. The plan was that I’d have one lady reporter and Tim Wright, the photographer, as guests on board.
I’d planned to give the more comfortable berth to the lady and let Tim (who lives aboard his own boat) handle the smaller cabin and manual head. But now I’ve been informed that there will be 2 ladies aboard. That means Tim gets the comfy room, and the ladies share the smaller cabin. C’est la vie.Ā It also means I’ll have to give the port cabin and toilet an extra clean…
Evening
I attended the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta prizegiving and then joined my neighbor, Scott from the boat Cygnus, for a tasty dinner at Trappas. I added the prizegiving pictures to theĀ 2026 Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta page.
