Lanocote and macerator
Lanocote and macerator

After doing a half day at the office, I attacked the head-repair project in the forward starboard toilet. I’d found the new electric macerator pump at Budget Marine the day before and proceeded to install it. I’d removed the entire toilet assembly to facilitate access, but it still took a long time to seat the motor while keeping the O-ring in place. In the end, I used some Lanocote as a temporary glue to keep things in place. Once complete, I put all the hoses back on and poured some water into the bowl to perform a leak check.

I was asked to help tow/push the yacht Thendara from her position at my dock to the dockyard as she’d lost her propeller. But after waiting 45 minutes alongside while they got things ready, the classic yachts were already coming in from the races, and it was deemed too dangerous to block the entrance with an unmaneuverable vessel, so the action has been postponed until 11:00 tomorrow.

Afternoon

I spent the afternoon dinghy wrangling, and things went as well as could be expected for the classic yachts with their long keels and undersized engines.

Subsequently, I was asked by Helen and Ian Brayley if I would join them as a guest for the Royal Naval Tot Club session.

After the rum, my recollections get a little hazy, but I did have some food at the Galley Bar before returning to Zanshin. The new security guard didn’t want to let me in, and told me that there was no boat called Zanshin at the dock… I had to show him where it was before he relented and let me in.
