Arnd

2024-03-11 It’s hot aboard today

Morning showers

Work aboard started out well, with rain showers passing through the anchorage. But then the clouds passed by, the water dried and sun came out. The wind stayed away and it has gotten quite hot belowdecks. Normally I’d take a quick break every hour or two and go swimming, but the water here in the lagoon isn’t particularly clean. I’ll just continue on until shortly before heading ashore tonight and then shower.

Noon

I just took a break from work to apply waterproofing to the dodger. This was one of those times where I wish I was a bit taller, as I couldn’t quite reach all the surface area. The missing square foot in the middle was finished from underneath, as the petroleum-based solution penetrates the Sunbrella completely.

After finishing up work I zipped across to Island Waterworld to purchase a new float switch for the bilge pump as well as some mounting hardware for the solar panels on the bimini. It is closing on 5PM now, but there are no big yachts coming in according to the AIS system, so I’ve got to choose which task to take care of – the bilge or the solar panels.

Ashore

I went ashore and walked up and down the strip a bit, capturing a picture of the sunset from the Simpson Bay bridge. Think it is my first sunset picture so far this trip!
