2023-04-24 Windstill Monday

Morning

Back to the daily grind today, but not for long before I have a couple of days off during the Antigua Sailing Week 2023. It’s a windstill Monday and there’s barely a hint of wind in the anchorage this morning, and what little wind there is, is coming from the south. This means that is blowing the sargassum seaweed into the harbour. Although it doesn’t bother me here at anchor, it is going to stink up everything ashore starting tomorrow, when it begins decaying.

Noon

Without a doubt I’m in the tropics. With the sun beating down and no wind to carry away the heat, it is toasty down here belowdecks. I can’t wait to finish up work on the computer and go topsides in the shade. Hopefully a hint of breeze will cool me down.

It is shortly before 15:00 and I’m on the final stretch leading to the end of my workday. Luckily some cloud cover has moved in and reduced the ambient temperature at my workplace.

Sous-Vide filet

I’d had a big fender drop on my head yesterday and had felt/heard the crunch of compressing vertebrae. It was a bit sore yesterday but hurt today. So I am keeping it low-key and not doing anything ashore. The windstill Monday is certainly a hot one.

Compound Butter
Compound Butter

I’ve got the sous-vide warming up a steak and am making some special compound butter for the steaks and cooking some rice for a simple meal tonight.

The steak was so tender, that I barely needed a knife to cut it. I’d not salted it before grilling, but the compound butter was quite salty. It made for a very tasty meal that was simple to create.
