Long night

Rolling with the waves. My first night aboard was somewhat restless as I’ve not yet acclimated to life aboard. I tossed and turned and managed to fall asleep just before my alarm went off for a 5AM online meeting. Fortunately, I had set the alarm but hadn’t activated it, so I slept soundly for an additional hour.

Morning Break

I took a break from work at 10AM and went for a swim around the boat. The boat cleaner has missed quite a few spots and I won’t go scraping those off with the current rolling swell as I will get cut up. I had taken my sandals off on the swim platform upon my return last night and now there’s only one sandal left. I’ll get a mask and fins for my next swim to see if I can locate the missing Teva Hiking Sandal but I’m not sanguine about my chances. Those were my most comfortable sandals, and I would be surprised to find them on sale here in St. Lucia. My only footwear on board are my Red Wing “Iron Ranger” Boots and an old pair of sneakers. The leather boots are overkill, so I’ll have to use the sneakers today.

Gregory’s Fruit Selection

Gregory, the fruit seller, has been pestering me for days and today I broke down and bought some grapefruit, bananas, passion fruit, guava, and mango and let myself be overcharged. The guava fruits are small and ripe, I just ate one and it was delicious. I’ll have a grapefruit later since I’ve missed their St. Lucian sweetness.

Old and new kill switches
Old and new kill switches

Ashore at the marina I exchanged quite a bit of money for a dinghy kill switch and a new Icom IC-M73 handheld VHF as the battery on my old IC-M72 had died. The replacement battery costs as much as a new radio. I’ve got the battery charging and have removed the defective kill switch and installed the new one. Unless I break something or discover something else that is broken, I’m net ahead for the day.
