We got off to a slow start today, mainly due to remnants of jet lag and the lengthy process of unpacking suitcases. We had a breakfast at the local bakery before getting on the highway and driving to our first day’s series of walks and hikes. We started off with the site at “Maison de la Forêt” and opted to take the long hike around the forest, which proved that Sandra’s normal sandals were sub-optimal for the task at hand; while the hiking sandals that Sascha had brought along for me definitely were up to the task.
The next step was the “Cascades aux Ecrevisses” (Crayfish falls) and we took a dip in the clear but surprisingly cold water coming down the hills in order to cool off after the walk. From there we drove up and over the hill and took the scenic drive back; passing Deshaies where we stopped for a bite to eat and then passing the “Plage de Cluny” where we spontaneously decided to take a break and that beach was certainly worth it. I hadn’t played around at body-surfing in a long time but I gave it a whirl anyway and had a great time.
We returned home after taking a brief detour to the Zone Industrielle in order to get some coffee pods and search for a new glass microwave turntable plate; after showering we opted for a simple pizza dinner ashore before retiring for the night.
