The night at Deep Bay was almost as bad as the prior night in Grand Case, with the notable difference that this time I had no plan “B”. The boat rolled and creaked all night as the wind had shifted slightly and now I frequently lay broadside to that northerly swell. I’ve learned my lesson about this wonderful anchorage – avoid in a north swell and go a mile further south to the bay of 5 islands and anchor in there. That’s where I saw a lot of boats as I motored by just after dawn and their masts didn’t look like they were trying alternately trying to touch the water on one side and then on the other.

The winds were either light or straight on the nose, so I motored all the way into Falmouth Harbour and found a spot to anchor. No north swell noticeable here, so I trust I’ll get a deep night’s sleep tonight. I got the dinghy put together and grabbed a quick shower and shaved before donning a collared shirt and going ashore to complete immigration and customs formalities at English Harbour. I logged into the eSeaClear system and within 2 minutes had gotten my clearance number. They printed out the 5 forms for me to sign and I was soon on my way from one desk to the next and soon I was finished and had time to walk the docks at English Harbour where a number of very large and very pretty boats were tied up. The dockyards were full of cruise ship guests, so I wandered over to Falmouth Harbour and checked out the merchandise on the docks there. A number of the RORC600 race boats had retired from the racing due to the light winds and were already at the docks, the rest will be coming in during the course of the day; as the prize giving ceremonies are tomorrow.

I met a fellow German sailor and we had a couple of rounds at the bar next to where the old Mad Mongoose was – the new place wasn’t open for happy hour and later on in the evening when we walked by it was open but virtually empty with only one patron at the bar.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
