The winch sensor stopped working, due to the magnetic pickup being clogged by rust from my very rusty chain. I repaired the system but it soon developed the same problem from rust.

2016 Trip 2016-02-25

As the weather was settled, I decided to work on the windlass and once I got it apart I was shocked at how the rusty chain had flaked pieces of filings into the windlass. These were still magnetic so clogged up the small magnet which is used by the windlass sensor to detect rotations. I cleaned up and used my stainless cleaner to remove all vestiges of rust form the pieces of the windlass and re-assembled it. It initially worked, but the chain was still flaking and soon the sensor stopped working again. I decided to let my anchoring remove the worst of the rust and then clean up the windlass again in the future.

I had a tasty Lo Lo meal at “The Rib Shack” but they’d put so much garlic and salt and other spices onto it that I needed to drink about a half liter of water afterwards.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
