2015 Trip 2015-04-07

I’d anchored the boat very close to the area around Flamboyant and Grand Case Beach Club after finding a spot there, but it turned out to have been an unwise choice. The winds whirled around the hill and constantly spun the boat around all night. This caused not only the occasional rolling from being hit broadside by the waves but also some loud wave action on the stern, which made sleep a bit difficult at times. In addition, I was swinging around in a different rhythm from the catamaran that had come in after me and I did spend some time on deck to ensure that we didn’t meet up during the wee hours of the night.

Today’s sail was back to Île Tintamarre, in the hopes that the Easter crowds had left some beach for us. The waves were higher than the 1 M prediction I’d seen and we had to beat into some bigger stuff than my guests wanted to encounter, but made it we did! There were a lot of boats anchored off Tintamarre, but that crowd soon thinned out and we got a sheltered anchoring spot quite close to shore. Although we didn’t get the stand-up paddle-board out, we did snorkel quite a bit with the numerous turtles in the anchorage and took a walk on the island as well as just playing on the beach. Lunch was cheese, butter and baguettes – all of which disappeared quickly from the plates.

The sail back was under genoa alone and had us rolling around in the 2 M swell, but luckily we were doing 7 knots and the uncomfortable portion was over quickly. Back at anchor after the obligatory sun downer my friends wanted to return to the LoLo of the night before and I opted to make dinner aboard. They hailed me on the VHF before leaving and I changed plans, showering and zipping across to the dinghy dock for a cooked meal at the LoLo rather than having to do all that work myself.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
