2014 Trip 2014-04-24

The anchorage isn’t quite a full this year as it was last year, but there are still a lot of yachts anchored out and many at the docks as well. Today was laundry day and I managed to get internet access from the boat, so I browsed the web for a while to see what has been happening in the world at large. Interspersed with those activities I joined battle against the evil and insidious forces of rust, who had made some stealthy sorties to various weak points on the boat and I had to retake some real estate on the stanchions and lifelines. My supplies of Prism Polish are dwindling and what remains is no longer thick as marmalade but runny and the components are coming out of solution, so I think I’ll have to get another bottle soon.

There was an Antigua Sailing Week meeting at 17:00 for our committee boat in order to discuss how Paul (our race officer) wanted to organise us and distribute tasks. After that short meeting there was a general volunteer meeting which was very well visited, probably because there were free drinks at the bar (of the new Sushi restaurant, which used to be the clubhouse) and we were also fed some light snacks. I had a couple of local Wadadli beers and then returned to the boat to make dinner. I had planned on staying ashore but in my haste to depart had neglected to take my wallet along so was rather constrained in what activities I could pursue ashore and I didn’t know any of the publicans well enough to be able to ask for, and get, credit. So I made a soup with noodles for dinner and watched another of the movies I’d gotten from Rocking B, this was the remake/rehash of the TV Series “The A-Team” which I managed to watch all the way to the end, although at times I came close to turning it off. I really wish that Hollywood would stop doing movie remakes or adaptations of graphic novels.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
