2013 Trip 2013-04-20

.Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain

That pretty much sums up the day. While the rains weren’t as torrential as they had been the previous day, they remained constant and each time they seemed to be letting up and I’d crack open the hatches, another shower would pass and I had to button up the boat again.
I worked on the computer much of the day, interspersing surfing the web with catching up no e-mails and work; but since everyone else on the HotHotHot! spot internet WiFi system was doing the same the throughput was less than stellar.
I only made a short hop ashore in the early afternoon in order to pick up some bread and fresh fruit, on the way there I was waved down by “Eau de la Vie” who had mooring lines attached but the anchor was hanging down with a large amount of chain wrapped around it – what we’d call “Kabelsalat” in German. I maneuvered the dinghy under the anchor and they lowered it in; carefully so as not to puncture my poor little mode of transportation. It took a bit to untangle the mess, but the chain was stainless steel and clean, making it easy to work with. Soon we had the chain untangled (it had looped twice around the anchor) and then my friends got the anchor aboard and made ready to depart. By this time Alexis had come by to see if he could assist and letting go of the two mooring lines was a snap and soon they were off.
I had planned on BBQing outside in the evening, but the rains didn’t let up and, to my shame, I have to admit that I augmented a portion of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese with some extra pasta and hand-grated Parmesan cheese for dinner, accompanying it with a fine bottle of Bordeaux.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
