2013 Trip 2013-03-31

> Today was a big day with lots of activity. The wind and waves had picked up overnight and we decided that we needed to change anchorages for something better, as we hadn’t slept well in the rolly boat during the previous night. After breakfast we decided that just motoring to the next anchorage was boring so we planned on doing a circumnavigation of Terre Haut by sail. It took a while to get the boat ready for travel since we knew it was blowing quite strongly out there. We started off with a little detour to Terre-de-Basse and anchorage behind Point &ag Nègre to see if that was an option for us (it wasn’t) and then circled the island counterclockwise. Going upwind was tough indeed, we had reefs in the sails and were bashing around and hardly making headway on each tack but finally cleared the gap between Terre-de-Haut and Grand Ilet – whereupon we were hit by the full wind and waves. By this time Sophia had the helm and was squealing in glee as she warned us of yet another breaking waves about to hit our starboard side – she was the only one having a huge amount of fun. Although we had buckets prepared we didn’t need them, but it was a close call indeed. Once around the headland and no longer on a close hauled attack course the boat smoothed out and we sped up, until we had the wind from aft and started rolling around a bit.
After finding one of the only 2 free mooring balls and settling down we got a great dolphin show with 2 dolphins circling around our area for a while. By the time Wolfgang and then Sophia got on their floatie to see if the dolphins were in any way curious they’d had enough of humans and boats and disappeared; but the show had been fun to watch while it lasted.
Subsequently we headed ashore for the island’s best beach, Pointpierre, and after that we had a short sojourn aboard for the sunset spectacle before going ashore for dinner at Ti Kaz La.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
