Arnd

2013 Trip 2013-03-21

It rained during much of the night, and in the morning the rainy atmosphere was slow to dissipate. But the day began on an absolute high note; just past seven a dinghy came by with my delivery of 2 croissants and a baguette, still warm from the bakery! Drinking a fine coffee with fresh food for breakfast without having to leave the boat is a true luxury indeed!
Around 11AM the weather had turned sunny again and I went ashore to play tourist and visit the Fort St. Louis on the hill overlooking the town and anchorage. The fort isn’t directly visible from ground level and it turned out to be
(a) higher, and
(b) bigger
than I expected. The fortification was built by the French after the British returned possession to them in order to defend the island (from the British, no less) but never saw combat.
I met my friend Bruce from Sold The Farm with his daughter and a friend while touring the Fort and we ended up going to a fine restaurant ashore in the evening for dinner.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
