2013 Trip 2013-02-18

Somehow the term “procrastination” comes to mind when describing the day today. So many chores planned; most of them now safely postponed to the morrow.
After taking care of some work-related tasks in the morning I took Malcolm up on his kind offer to drive me to Soper’s Hole for some shopping at the store there; we stopped at his abode on the way there and I saw the type of place that, should I opt to switch my nomadic lifestyle for something upon terra firma, I would love to live in. The house is built up on top of a beach (whose sands like to wander as well) and the sounds of the small waves breaking on the shoreline provide a continuous and melodious background noise to relax even the most tightly wound person.
After concluding our shopping and driving around in Mal’s “Da ting” I was back aboard the board and could no longer procrastinate, so I cleaned up the ceilings and other surfaces in the 4 cabins to remove residuals from the attack of “Les Mouches” and to get rid of the remainder of the storage dust aboard the boat. Then, finding some time left before happy hour, I took the Prism Polish and some cloths to the front of the boat to continue my neverending battle against RUST. While I sometimes get the impression that I win certain tactical advantages and even gain some ground in skirmishes; the battle isn’t going well for me…
While working in the anchor assembly I noticed that something wasn’t quite right and saw that one of the two rollers in the anchor assembly was missing! Not only that, but the steel was somewhat bent outward as well, as if a side-force had torn out the roller. I recall having tightened the roller once and think that the pin unwound during anchoring or weighing anchor. I set up my dive gear and used the rest of the air in one tank to perform a search grid in the hopes of finding the missing roller in the swing of my anchor but, after almost an hour and running low on air, I gave up and am going to have to head into town tomorrow and see if they have an appropriate replacement for the boat – I’d rather get this fixed quickly before any additional damage to the anchoring assembly might occur and before weigh anchor and perhaps scratch up the bow with the pointy end of the anchor.
I went ashore during happy hour, following the musical tones until I ended up at Myetts’s and next to a TTOL member with whom I talked until the rumbling sounds from my stomach became louder than the sound from the stage and I returned to the boat to eat some of the (relatively) fresh greens I’d purchased earlier in the day.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
