2013 Trip 2013-02-06

Today was another lazy day in the tropics. I remained at anchor until 2 in the afternoon, doing some cleaning below mixed with browsing the internet with the fast free internet connection at Saba Rock and then I met a gent that I’d known through an internet sailing forum, he’s chartering a very big Voyage 520 catamaran called Ottertude which makes Zanshin seem a lot less large. After they departed for Norman Island I raised the genoa and sailed the one mile downwind to Leverick Bay for the evening. I cleaned up and went ashore to say “Hi” to Nick and Michael and sat through the happy hour show.
Back aboard I made some food, napped a bit in the warmth of the cockpit and then managed to slip on the way down the companionway. The fall was a bad one, my left hand is sprained badly so that I can’t move my thumb, but luckily nothing broken and I’ve bandaged it up. The nasty part was either on the way down or upon landing I bashed my coccyx (tailbone) and now have some pretty impressive back pain in most positions and particularly when moving from one to another. The only position that isn’t painful is standing, which isn’t particularly conducive to sleeping. I’m typing this text while standing because I can’t find a sitting position which doesn’t cause spike of pain in my back. I didn’t sleep much last night, and what little I got was fitful at best. Hopefully it will get better today – I believe there is nothing I can do but grin and bear it; I did take two aspirin just now but don’t think it has much of a chance, but the stronger analgesics aboard are for real emergencies. At least now I have an iron-clad excuse to not do anything but laze around all day!

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
