Winter 2011-2012 Trip 2011-12-27

In the morning hours I decided that it really was time to leave, so after taking care of my e-mail and internet stuff at La Sucrière I headed off to the Capitainerie and managed to master the French keyboard and clear out. When I printed out the form and wanted to pay the €5 fee I realized that I didn’t have enough money along and had to head off to a cash machine. Halfway there I checked another pocket in my backpack and found a $20 bill and while I was paying the fee I heard voices that I recognized and found Bernd and Carmen in the back room. I promised to drop by their boat later on in the day and then headed off to do my shopping. First the dinghy dock at Island Waterworld, then the walk up the road to Ace Hardware (for BBQ implement and assorted stuff) with a short stop at Havin’s to discuss him manufacturing a wind generator mount for me, then back down the road to ELECTEC for watermaker filters and electrical cable for the Bauer Compressor and finally into Island Waterworld for some smaller items including bungee cord to make sure that the Aloe Vera plant doesn’t bounce around the cockpit.
I dropped by Bernd and Carmen to say goodbye and when back on the boat I spent quite a while getting the dinghy into the garage – it wasn’t very difficult once I figured out how to do it, but I did get to add to my collection of scrapes, scratches and bruises in the process.
Dinner was a simple one – thawed burger (king-sized) with a baked potato, then an early night with the alarm set for 06:00am.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
