I’m getting back into sailing time – eat early, sleep early but get up with the sun. I didn’t quite catch the sunrise this morning, but at quarter past six this morning I was making my beloved coffee and debating on how to spend the day. Originally I wanted to get out of the marina by noon but realized that I needed another day to get everything all sorted out in preparation for leaving. Number one item is the generator, it looks like I will have to replace the injector in the hopes that the engine will finally start. I had breakfast at Genaker’s and then went to BVI Yacht Sales for a talk and then to the hotel room of Bluewaterkids for provisions, as they are departing back for Canada tomorrow morning. And now it is high noon and I haven’t done a single thing all day. Ahh, now that’s vacation.
Instead of tackling the generator I’ll do the aft cabin Froli mattress setup and get that ready for visitors; even though the aft air conditioning unit isn’t putting out anything but re circulated hot air. The Froli mattress went together quickly this time and soon I had the aft cabin cleaned and ready and had shut the doors so that I didn’t have to cool that part of the boat anymore.
One person with whom I’d exchanged frequent e-mails and other communication on various forums in the internet, Steve, was down on the islands in search of a boat to buy and had just completed sailing a likely candidate and was returning home. Fortunately he stayed at the Nanny Cay hotel and was able to drop by Zanshin I and we talked for a while (in the air/-conditioned comfort of the messy main cabin). Afterwards we dropped by Barry and asked him to show us Solitaire and while Barry was presenting the boat I was hit with a bit of melancholy, as the boat was looking very nice and I remember the good times I’d had aboard!
Later on Barry & Alison as well as Kayla and Quinn came over for a final round of happy hour drinks and snacks aboard the boat, and not only brought their company but also the supplies! We talked until dark and then went over to Peg Legs Landing for an excellent pizza dinner and after that I was pretty knackered (British colloquialism for ‘tired’) and barely managed to stay awake long enough to make it to the showers and then head off to sleep.
