With our seasoned team back together, we found that everything went surprisingly smoothly.
We got our mooring attached, and the wind and current set us up just right. Soon, the boat checked in (via VHF), and the first races were sent off.
Upon returning to Nelson’s Dockyard, we were told to moor stern-to at the main dock. This shouldn’t have posed an issue, but we dropped the anchor relatively far out, and by the time we were within 15 feet of the dock, we’d run out of chain and couldn’t reverse any further! Then, when we’d motored back forward to reset the anchor closer to the dock, we found that we’d fouled our anchor on that of Hanuman. My first thought was to extend the chain with rode, but the way the system is set up, that wasn’t an option. Luckily, our attempt to free the anchor succeeded, and the second try went much better.
