The winds were a bit less than on the previous day, but the waves hadn’t subsided at all. To aggravate the situation, we had a very strong current opposed to the winds which had the catamaran go broadside-on to the waves and that made for an uncomfortable period. I’d tried to use the engines to align us to the waves but wasn’t particularly successful. Luckily, the current turned before the starts.

Because the main prizegiving was scheduled at Nelson’s Dockyard the goal for Neil was to get the racers back to their docks or anchorages in good time. Despite this restriction, he set two courses for all racers that were the right length/time. A number of competitors called in on the VHF to retire from the last race; mostly because their rankings could neither improve nor get any worse and they were tired after several days of racing.
