2023-06-04 Gusty winds today

After a lengthy period of windstill conditions we’ve got some very gusty winds today. I had lifted my dinghy out of the water yesterday to let the gunk on the bottom dry out overnight. Fortunately I’d had the foresight to tie the dinghy fore-and-aft to prevent it from capsizing in strong winds – even though there was little wind yesterday afternoon.

The dinghy survived the night unscathed. And the winds really do help to cool things down. And because Zanshin is swinging at anchor, I won’t do another round of hull cleaning today, either.

Noon

The winds gave a short respite in the early afternoon and I wanted to cool off so I went swimming after all. I’m fairly certain that I re-scrubbed areas that I’d cleaned the day before, but green stuff had reclaimed lost territory. There’s still a lot of hard stuff on the hull. Both the keel and rudder will need scuba time and I haven’t gone close to the prop – it looks like a green ball…

I had a slice of baguette with cheese for lunch and it was yummy. The thawed bread is no longer crunchy, but it is still a baguette.

Afternoon

I did some work on the website and stared at some of my postponed tasks. My glares didn’t get any work done at all, I think I’ll have to figure out another method, or actually take care of the tasks myself.

I’m thinking of using the Gorgonzola I have left to make a pasta sauce and cook that aboard tonight.

Dinner and Evening

Ahh, the plans of mice and men. I made a dinner of Boursin on baguette bread. Accompanied by a fine Heineken that was aged a good two weeks in the back corner of my fridge. It only survived that long because it was hidden underneath a 7-up can, and since the can colour was the same I’d assumed it was also a 7-up.

My pictures of the day all turned out the same. Overblown white. I’d neglected to reset the camera from manual with F11 and 1/15 of a second with an ISO of 3000. That was good for moon and night shots, but not so good for bright daytime shots.
