Arnd

2023-05-14 Sunday aboard

I spend almost all Sunday aboard Zanshin.

I awoke early in the morning, and thought I’d play around with getting responsive menus working on the website. Several rather frustrated hours later I was no closer to getting this working. I use a plug called Elementor for this website and it features “containers” but I cannot for the life of me get them working the way I would like to in either “Tablet” or “Mobile” modes. I’m so used to full-screen applications for my design that I neglect smaller display formats.

I went to Pigeon beach in the afternoon. It is local’s day on Sunday and the beach was busy with families having a good time. I landed my dinghy on the far side of the dock and proceeded with the onerous task of cleaning the bottom. This took a long time, as quite a bit of growth had accumulated. It was stinky and strenuous work. I had a scraper, a bucket, a bristly kitchen pad and lots of elbow grease. After over an hour of work the task was completed.

Dinner

I’m unwilling to cook tonight. There is going to be jazz music at Club Sushi with a good quartet, so I think that will be my destination.

Change of plans, I decided to make twice-baked potatoes and thaw out some Merguez sausages for grilling on the barbie. While the sausages were a bit crispy, the potatoes were really good.

I’d added some bacon on top and mixed in a little compound butter. The results were better than expected and I’ll be baking that again.
