Galley
All I did today was get the galley cleaned and the computer updated. Although I’d left the fridge and freezer doors ajar, there was some strange mold growing in there which need some serious bleach attention. I also used the opportunity to put some electrical tape along the seams. This will, I hope, reduce energy consumption. The galley is clean, and I’ve got 20L of water cooling down as “ballast” in preparation for tomorrow’s shopping.
Courtesy Flag
The old courtesy flag is shredded. I’d left it flying and there’s just tatters left. The chandlery supplied me with a new flag and some Kolor Kut which I’ll use to see how much water, if any, is in my tank.
Dock Work
The competition amongst the “Hustlers” here at the docks is pretty intense. I usually use a guy called Charlie to clean the bottom but was told he’s currently in a bit of a “time out”. So, I used Vision’s recommendation of a guy called Ain and he cleaned the bottom today. It took a long time, and I could hear the heavy scraping indication how hard he was at work.
After he completed the job, and I went ashore to the store I met Charlie. He asked me when he should clean the bottom and I told him that I’d had someone else do it because he’d been banned for a bit. He was angry and said that he was still allowed to do underwater work – and wanted to know who’d told me that he couldn’t work. I hemmed and hawed and promptly forgot who’d given me the news in order to prevent further trouble.
Software and computers
The internet is really slow, unlike last time I was here. It took all day to complete the Microsoft updates and the Adobe updates, plus some other smaller packages. But I think I’m up to date now and tomorrow I’ll update the chart plotter with the newest software. And I’ll have to purchase a SIM-Card so that I can do some home-office work. Not much to show for my day, with only the galley cleaned and computer updated.
Dinner
After a shower and shave I went to the dockside bar for a drink before heading into Elena’s Pizzeria for dinner. The Diavolo pizza was fiery and tasty.
