2022-05-08 Carpenter Rock Trail

I met Rosie and Alec at 09:00 for breakfast at Sea Breeze and we headed over to English Harbour to take the water taxi across to Galleon Beach. From there we walked to Fort Charlotte, where the Round-the-Island race was started and finished and from there we continued hiking up the western coast of Antigua along the Carpenter Trail which eventually led us up to the top of the hill and Shirley Heights. We were several hours early for the Sunday afternoon steel pan music, so we continued on over the hill and walked the trail back to Galleon Beach.

It doesn’t read like much, but in the hot weather here the hike is a good one and I’m glad we had shade on the way back down! Luckily, the bar at English Harbour was open for our custom afterwards.

I’d spent several hours cleaning up the area inside and around the generator housing at it seems that my generator has developed a serious diesel leak. I got a couple of liters of spilled fuel cleaned up but the smell was pretty strong, so I postponed the actual detection and correction stage for tomorrow. I suspect that the fuel pump has developed a leak and that would mean that I need to head to St. Martin for parts as Antigua is quite expensive.
