2022-04-21 Final preparations

Morning work

I’m doing the final preparations for the passage to Antigua today. The weather is cloudy and windy which makes the cabin comfortable and cool. After a bit of work on the computer I downloaded some weather apps and installed them onto the chart plotter. Unfortunately, I had to remove the plotter from the housing in order to access the SD card, but now I have PredictWind and Windy installed at the nav station. I used the free internet at the marina yesterday to install the 1GB large update to the chartplotter Android software

I’ve got the dishwasher running while I’m still on shore power and my laundry has been done ashore. I’ll fill up the water tanks later on and will fill up on fuel after clearing out of St. Lucia.

I had to shut the hatches as a shower passed through and it heated up quickly belowdecks. I got out my new borescope to see if the rain had caused some water leakage. Alas, it hadn’t rained hard enough for any water to trickle or drop down.

Some go-fast powerboats arrived from Martinique today, the scrawniest of which “only” had 600HP! They must have made the trip across the 50KM ocean in mere minutes.

Drinks at the Rodney Bay Boardwalk BarI took a short swim in the pool to cool off and then a hot shower to clean up. The computer setup occupied my time until I joined some other cruisers at the Boardwalk Bar and that took up the rest of the day. Elena’s was busy but I wanted a pizza so I ordered it as takeaway and ate it aboard the boat.
