2022-04-16 Shopping Day

Morning work

In the morning hours I did a bit of cleaning and housekeeping aboard the boat. I also managed to get the dodger installed; this was more work than I’d remembered because of the tight fit and I should have had Ray help me when we put up the bimini.

Hotel Visit

I’d arranged for a Sunday outing on Zanshin with the others, but the wind was predicted to still be gusting 30 knots and with a big swell coming from the Atlantic ocean. I opted to postpone our day sail until conditions were more propitious but didn’t have any contact information, so drove to the hotel to give the bad news in person and see if I could reach Donna and Keith.

Massy Gourmet Shopping

I mainly needed heavy supplies such as canned goods and water, but the parking lot of the Massy store was overflowing so I chose to go shopping across the way at the Massy Gourmet (wider selection, but higher prices). It was just as full. It seems that when people go shopping before a 1-day holiday they need to get 7-days worth of supplies! Despite the crush I got my items purchased and stowed aboard the boat

Rental return

I then had to drive to the Vigi airport in Castries. The distance is just a few miles as the crow flies, quite a bit a longer with the winding road, and can take so long that taking food and drink along makes sense.

It took me 2 1/2 hours for the round trip with the traffic seeming to be flowing quickly in the direction I wasn’t travelling!
