It is past 13:00 already and although I was up quite early I’ve accomplished very little aboard. Most of the time was spent in front of the keyboard catching up on e-mails and arranging a method of getting my new solar panels to me. I had planned on having them sent to St. John again, but I had checked the maritime weather and my only comfortable weather window from the BVI to St. Martin before the Heineken Regatta is going to be this coming Wednesday, which wouldn’t give the shipment time to reach the USVI and for me to pick them up. So I checked about having the panels sent to a shipping company in Florida and then sending them from there to St. Martin; and it turns out that this option is far cheaper and will save a couple of hundred dollars in shipping costs! But I need to set up the account, finalize shipping and transport while I’m still somewhere with a good internet connection, hence my indolence today. I’ve not even taken a picture of anything yet, either.
I did get quite a bit of cleaning done aboard, plus stowing stuff away; and made a quick trip to the dive shop to return their 2 2-pound weights which we’d neglected to remove from my dive jacket (I use steel tanks, which are heavier, so when I use the lighter aluminum tanks from the dive shops I tend to float at the surface and have trouble getting down to depth) plus drop off two bags on the garbage scow.
Later I shaved and showered and went to the Crawl Pub for a beer and a pizza and returned to the boat at dusk. I didn’t feel great so just relaxed in the dark cockpit for while. During my absence a charter boat had decided to anchor very close to me, they are now less than a boat length directly behind me on some swings of the boat and I wonder what they are going to do tomorrow when it is time to leave.
