The last day of 2011 began early for me, waking up at sunrise for no obvious reason. While drinking coffee and trying to connect to the internet I looked at my Post-It® notes wall with the list of chores left to do and thought I should spend one day attacking those tasks so that the boat can be made ready for my first set of guests. I hope my resolve lasts until after breakfast.
The generator oil change went better than I expected, I had my major spills kits spread out all over the cabin in the likely event of a mishap, but the procedure went both quickly and without spilling more than a few drops of oil into the bilges! I was so successful that I decided not to push my luck and postpone doing the main engine for another day.
Although I’d made plans for Saba Rock and then Leverick Bay for New Year’s celebrations at the end of the day I realized I wasn’t in the mood for a party and stayed aboard, making a light dinner and then enjoying the stars outside until the big boats hooted their horns and I dropped off to sleep below.
