The Company
Tony Lama has been making cowboy boots in Texas since 1911 and is one of the bigger players in the cowboy boot manufacturing industry. They have both mass-produced and handmade boots in their portfolio.
Cowboy Boots
Although cowboy boots are not particularly popular in Europe, I’ve had pairs before in the US and found them to be very comfortable when made by craftsmen and after being broken in. All of my previous pairs were standard leather and geared towards work/comfort rather than style. I wanted to have at least one set of full-quill ostrich boots, they are known to be both extremely comfortable as well as durable. I couldn’t find any vendors in Europe, but did find an online vendor in the USA which shipped overseas so took this opportunity to get these boots. I got them in 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and they haven’t seen as much use as they normally would have.
Conclusions
These are very well-made boots and have become very comfortable as well, after a short break-in period. The leather sole breathes easily and is great in dry conditions, but the boot is somewhat slippery in wet environments and in the winter.
