Martinique

Martinique is the biggest French island in the Caribbean chain and the one I have barely begun to explore.
I’ve only anchored off St. Pierre and Fort-de-France and docked at Le Marin. That leaves a lot of anchorages and places to explore. The marinas in Fort-de-France are the largest in the whole Caribbean, so there must be something that attracts all those boats and visitors.
St. Pierre

This used to be the capital city until it was destroyed in the 1902 Mt. Pelee eruption. I’ve anchored there several times and have cleared in/out there as well. The old pre-volcano ruins hint at a bustling city, but now it has become the second city behind Fort-de-France.
Fort-de-France

My one stay there was cut short by the impending arrival of tropical storm Bret, and I fled all the way south to Grenada to avoid that one.
I’ll certainly visit again and explore this island a bit more!
Le Marin

The marina at Le Marin is huge, with room for 830 boats at the docks and another 100 moorings. There are several chandleries and a big haul-out facility as well. I stayed for almost 2 weeks while repairing my fuel tank leak.
