I tried to do some work aboard the boat this morning, but the back wasn’t quite up to it. I managed to do the dishes and clean up the galley area but that was it. Then I lay down in the cockpit for a while and read my book for a bit before I got antsy and decided to drive around part of the island. The dirt road was quite rough and the little Jeep that I have held up much better than my back did. I met some British cruise ship guests walking the dirt road (without water) and offered them a bit of a drive around the north shore. I wanted to get some pictures taken with my camera and tripod, but unfortunately the had both the camera and tripod but was missing the connecting piece 🙁
Sundays is when The Elmtones play at the Elm in Cane Garden Bay. I joined Mal and Candace with a front-row seat and the band has not only matured with time but is now a 6-piece ensemble and they put on some great music. Unfortunately the food and service weren’t commensurate and I ordered a simple meal of ribs with some rice for $18 and after an hour we asked about the food and it soon arrived – but served at room temperature, the ribs weren’t even warm. I will certainly return to the Elm for the music but I won’t be eating there again.
When I left there was a car parked behind me in the lot, blocking not only myself but 3 other cars! We had the license plate called but nobody responded and I was contemplating letting the air out of the tires when I tried the door of the car and it opened and the chime that denotes “You’ve left the key in the lock” went off. I drove the offending car to one of the many open parking spots and then departed for boat. Traffic was sparse but terrible, as can be expected on a full-moon night in the BVI. From a car driving with just parking lights to a couple with full high-beams and fog lights and the occasional driver playing chicken by taking up most of the road. I did stop to take two pedestrians as I didn’t want them to become a statistic in the next day’s paper.
