The wind was from a southerly direction, so I was on a starboard tack from the anchorage all the way to the Virgin Gorda entrance channel and was just a couple of degrees off from being hard on the wind. There were no waves to speak of and the trip was a dream – champagne Caribbean sailing at it’s best. Full sails, 7-8 knots and sunny skies!

I had time to take a short walk ashore, purchase some long-life milk so that I could make my morning coffee and started cooking a Bolognese sauce in the mid-afternoon. 4 hours later I was ready to eat and the batteries had taken a bit of a hit because of the long simmering time, but as I knew that I’d be motoring for at least 10 hours tomorrow I wasn’t worried about the energy consumption. The meal was tasty and quite spicy since I’d used a Jalapeno or two plus a Scotch Bonnet and I could hear Michael Beans’ Happy Arrr show from my boat. After a glass of wine and the heavy dinner I didn’t stay awake long at all…
