Home office in the morning got my day going, but as today is a national holiday in Denmark I didn’t have a chance to communicate with anyone at the office and I needed a couple of questions answered in order to continue work. I checked out of Nanny Cay for a noon departure and left only about 15 minutes late. As always, it was work to get all the lines and fenders inboard after leaving, and since the fuel dock area which I normally use to do this (I motor slowly upwind close to the dock, stop the boat, then do my work as the boat drifts slowly downwind – repeating as necessary) was crowded I had to do this work in the Sir Francis Drake Channel. Luckily the waves weren’t too rough so I was soon finished and started sailing towards Norman Island but after a couple of minutes I realized that I didn’t really want to go there, but that a pizza at Corsair’s in Great Harbour, Jost van Dyke would be tasty for dinner. After passing the narrows at Soper’s Hole I realized that a steak would be even better for dinner, so I altered course to anchor off Diamond Cay in Jost van Dyke and put a steak out to thaw.
Dark rain clouds approached but the brunt of the rain passed by our anchorage, so I made the steak in a light drizzle and had a very tasty dinner. I watched one of the Rocking B movies, “The Dead Pool” and then sat in the cockpit as the clouds disappeared and the full moon put in a command performance.
