2014 Trip 2014-02-11

Day 2 with the car was fun again, it is a nice feeling to be mobile and nice to be ashore again as well. I started off with stocking up on Nespresso capsules at Bacchus again, then found an apothecary with EpiPens on the French side which were only €80 for 2 which was half the price of the drug store on the Dutch side that I’d checked to so I got those, then returned the pump assembly at the chandlery and got some small items before meeting up with Mark from Sea Life, who wanted to join me for a drive to Philipsburg. We drove over, had a brief shopping trip in Bluepoint where I got a massive 220V to 110V converter which also converted the 50Hz to 60Hz and then we ended up searching for a parking space for a long time – finally finding a spot back close to Bluepoint. We wandered Front Street where I looked at close-up macro lenses for underwater photography and then walked along the Promenade and had a liquid refreshment or two there before jumping back in the vehicle and making it to the Sint Maarten Yacht Club just in time to see the bridge opening and a mere 4 boats going through.

He returned to his boat and I got back into the Hyundai and mentally girded myself for the traffic and parking in Grand Case, as today is Tuesday. The traffic into Grand Case wasn’t as bad as the outgoing traffic jam from the morning, but finding a parking spot was very difficult and the spot I found was halfway to the Grand Case airport but at least I was within walking distance! Back aboard I realized that my fridge was pretty much empty and all I had left was some bread dough, so I got that out and let it rise again and baked that for dinner, and watched an episode of Rowan Atkinson as Black Adder on the notebook with the new little speakers attached for what I consider Sensurround sound (at least compared to before).

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
