2014 Trip 2014-02-01

The problem with going to sleep so early is that one tends to wake up too early, making it feel less like vacation and more like work. The conditions in Grand Case aren’t amenable to long sleep at the moment, with the northerly component to the big 2 meter swell washing around the headland and making for a pretty rolly, and consequently empty, anchorage. But get up early I did and listened to the morning VHF cruisers network before doing some work on the computer. The showers coming through mean that I have to open and close the hatches all the time and the weather doesn’t look like it is going to change much today. If that remains the case I’ll do another dive at Creole Rock later on in the day and finish the LED installation in the cockpit. One of my crimped connections is flaky despite looking acceptable and I will have to replace that sooner rather than later.

I went ashore after lunchtime to say hello to Chris and Sally and get some bread from the bakery, but it turned out they were off for the afternoon and the one bakery had no fresh bread left while the other remained closed after lunch, so I repaired back to the boat and did some maintenance work, getting the LED working correctly again and doing some stainless polishing forward until the sun set and I took out my last steak and let it marinate for a bit before throwing it on the barbie. The steak needed eating and I’ll sample the nighttime and gustatorial pleasures of Grand Case on the morrow.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
