Today I started with the medications I’d received the day previously and hope that the antibiotics don’t mess up my system too much. Since it was Tuesday and the roads shut down early due to the street fair I needed to get going early – and since I didn’t make it ashore until it was late I opted to work on the boat and give the car (and credit-card) a respite. I worked on trying to get my Xantrex battery monitor synchronized with that actual setting; I’d thought that correcting the Peukert value in the monitor would do the trick, but unfortunately the monitor was still off by 80Ah after 9 days. I used the generator runtime to hook up my 230V to 110V converter in order to drive the Dremel tools that I have and make the cutouts for the boat speakers fit the new acquisitions. After just a bit the fuse inside the converter blew, and the spare fuse also blew (before I hooked anything up). I’ll have to get replacement fuses and hope that the device had just run hot. I could run the little Dremel tool off the 12V DC cigarette plug inverter, but that would also do a soft-reset every 10-15 seconds so it took quite a while to get the speaker holes sized appropriately, but once I’d waterproofed the installation with silicone and fired up the stereo the sound was very nice in the cockpit and I hope that they last longer than the originals.
I went ashore after dark and walked up and down the street, then got a comfy seat facing the road at the dinghy dock and had two Presidente beers while watching the local fauna walk by. Later on I was joined by a Canadian couple who were staying at one of the villas above the Grand Case Beach Club and we talked for a very long time; before I knew it, it was midnight and I was feeling the medication and the lack of food so I headed back aboard Zanshin for a little snack and some sleep.

2014 Trip 2014-01-28
My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
