2014 Trip 2014-01-21

On Tuesdays in the late afternoon the main street in Grand Case gets shut down for a street market that goes late into the night so I had to ensure that I returned by around 14:00 so that I could get a parking spot.
So I headed off in the morning and, in my hurry, forgot my shopping list for boat parts so all I did at both Budget Marine and Island Waterworld was window-shopping. I had a tasty lunch at Lagoonies and then drove into Philipsburg and went to the Bluepoint electronics store to purchase a LED monitor (an IPS one, so that I can see the real colors when I edit pictures). After the obligatory baguette purchase I went back aboard and lounged topsides while reading the Nikon manual in order to learn the details of my new camera.
Ashore at Grand Case I walked the main street and once again admired the woodblock prints by Paul Elliott Thudeau at the Tropismes art gallery and I need to really think about getting one of them for the boat. I walked upstairs to another gallery and talked with the people on the balcony there, one gent was playing the sax and it turns out that he’s aboard the big trimaran anchored off the docks in Grand Case.
The restaurants and LoLos were packed, so instead of dinner I opted to drop by Calmos Caf&ea again and had their tasty Mousse au Chèvre and met a nice couple from New York who were heading off to St. Barths by plane the next day – perhaps I shouldn’t have mentioned the rather thrilling and exciting approach over the roundabout at the top of the hill on final approach.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
