The anchor held well overnight despite the odd squall passing through the anchorage. I tried to make the remaining bread from the dough in the fridge but it did not want to really rise again, and after waiting an hour for some yeast action I gave up and left the bread in the cold oven and got underway. The winds were not optimal for Cane Garden Bay, so I ended up doubling the distance sailed but had a great sail in 20 knot winds under reefed sails while the other boats were all motorsailing or just plain motoring upwind.
At Cane Garden Bay I anchored in 20 feet and the anchor held well on the first try. I went snorkeling and realized that I might have my work cut out for me when I leave because the tip of the anchor went beneath a rock/coral so I’ll have to make sure that I don’t pull backwards, just straight upwards, when I depart. I anchored quite close to the reef, about 30 feet behind the boat the water shoals to about 6 feet, but I’m very secure and safe where I am in 15 feet of water.
The bread dough hadn’t fared too well on the sailing passage and had drooped again, but an hour later it had risen as far as it would go and I fired up the generator to make power for the oven, the watermaker, the water heater and finally to charge the batteries. 40 minutes later the bread was ready and it was not bad, it had risen more than I thought and was quite light – but it was rather bland and I think I might have been a bit too sparing with the sea-salt. But fresh bread from the oven coupled with melted butter always tastes good to me.
At 18:30 it was time to head ashore and visit The Elm to meet up with Malcolm and Candace and perhaps other people that I’d informally met online on one of the sailing forums. Mal always has the front table reserved as he’s a regular so I, once again, had a VIP seat right close to the band and the normal band was complemented by another musician, Jeff Ross, who was excellent and gave the band a very different feel to their normal performance.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
