2013 Trip 2013-01-28

Departed Munich – afer a big dinner with Wolfgang and his famliy the night before it wasn’t easy getting up early in order to clean up the flat and get going in order to check in at 12:00. The first updates in many many month are being done in the departure lounge of the airport in Munich nad hopefully I won’t be seeing any delays in the connecting flight to Dulles where I get to spend a nicht before continuing on to the BVI via San Juan on Tuesday. The cameras are safely hidden away in my baggage, so there won’t be any pictures today.

While the flight was comfortable and on time, arrival at Washington was fraught with a bit of difficulties – it took a long time for the airport shuttle bus to leave for the immigration hall, immigration was surprisingly fast and pleasant but it was another long wait for baggage and subsequently I was frustrated by attempts to get the hotel (Hyatt) shuttle bus, the first two that came along were for different Hyatts, then I had to go inside twice to call their reservations desk to get a shuttle sent and finally I got another Hyatt driver to use his cell phone to call the hotel directly in order to get a bus. Had I not prepaid I would certainly have taken a room elsewhere, waiting 1 1/2 hours in the cold for a bus is beyond what I’m willing to do again.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.

Every.  Single.  Page.

So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.

The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
