I originally had planned to use the calm seas and light winds for a quick sail down to Saba for a day or two, but once I’d left the sanctuary of the anchorage I realized that the wind had picked up and was causing mare’s tails on waves (meaning 15kts or more) and there was a pretty big swell coming around the island so I quickly changed plans and took a comfortable half-wind sail back to Grand Case via Île Tintamarre. When I passed the island I saw that the anchorage was very crowded so I continued on without stopping and anchored in Grand Case. I spent some time catching up on e-mails and then took my Ace Hardware paint stripper and scraped the accumulated sea grass off the waterline on both sides of the hull and then spent two hours trying to figure out how to repair the sump in the port forward shower – I can read electric plans and know how relays work, but couldn’t for the life of me figure out how the thing was wired — until I realized that the shower sump switch wasn’t electric (which explained why I couldn’t find the wires) but was actuated by a thin tube to a pressure-sensitive relay. This tube had fallen out… problem found and quickly fixed.
By this time it was 18:30 and I rang the happy hour bell as dusk settled on the anchorage and I think I’ll head ashore in a bit and have a pizza, which I’ve been craving for a couple of days.

My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
