Wolfgang had packed light, but apart from clothing and a wonderful bottle of aged Balvenie double wood he inadvertently packed some very bad weather and today was extremely windy (with 3m waves outside of the lagoon) and rainy so we opted to stay at our anchorage and use the rental car for a quick trip around the island and to do some provisioning for his stay on the boat. We got our shopping done at Le Grand Marché on the Dutch side in torrential rain and, much to our dismay, our rental car failed to start due to a very low battery. After trying to reach the rental company I went inside and asked if they might have a starting kit in the hopes that I wasn’t the first person with this problem and was told that they did have one. I got the starter battery from them and quickly started the car but was soaked to the skin while doing so. Luckily it was a tropical downpour and not too uncomfortably cold.
Dinner was had ashore at a new restaurant with tasty food but where the service still needs to learn the ropes, our waiter had a big section and was so busy that we it seemed like an aeon before we got the bill.
