I thought I’d have a nice little sail from Jost van Dyke through the pass at Soper’s Hole to The Bight in Norman Island but the winds were quite a bit stronger than I’d thought. I had 3 reefs in both sails and was comfortably doing 6-8 knots and enjoyed watching a number of other boats with full or almost full sails heeled way over and fighting the gusts; the true wind was between 15 and 20 knots and occasionally a bit more. Unfortunately my autopilot exhibited the same issues yet again and was unusable in the rough swell. I’ll have to figure out what the problem might be as I checked the physical installation of the rudder sensor at the quadrant and there was no looseness or problem visible at all.

Winter 2011-2012 Trip 2012-01-02
My old hosting company, who will remain unnamed although their name starts with “go” and the end rhymes with “baddy”, changed their software with little notice and the original SV-ZANSHIN.COM site stopped working overnight.
Every. Single. Page.
So I’ve transitioned to another provider. These original pages have been migrated, but all the formatting and other features are gone and the will still contain numerous display issues and formatting anomalies.
The manual effort of conversion is too much and not worth the effort involved. Over 1000 blog diary pages like this one are going to remain in this condition. The pictures are full-scale, but won’t expand when clicked. But you can can copy them to view them in their original splendour.
