Morning

Both Zed and I have our last day in St. Kitts today. He departs via jet at 433 knots cruising speed. I’ll be lucky to be doing a tenth of that sailing Zanshin on my way back to Antigua. I had two lengthy conference calls to deal with before we could leave the anchorage.

At midmorning, we were ready to leave White House Bay and head into Port Zante in Basseterre. The trip isn’t long, but without wind, we motored the whole way and anchored outside of the marina and close to the empty cruise ship docks.

The ferries zip by at speed through the anchorage and create huge wakes. But fortunately, the captains zip by on the forward part of the boat and not the stern.
Lunch

Zed and I had lunch at the Four Ways Restaurant at the Berkeley Memorial. Zed then departed in a taxi and headed to the airport for his flight back to the USA. I returned to Zanshin and returned to White House Bay for the rest of the day.

As before, the light winds prevented any sailing, and I motored back to approximately the same anchoring spot as we’d had earlier.
Afternoon

I had to get the dinghy ready for both the light airs of the upwind passage and for subsequent storage ashore. This meant removing the engine and heaving it into the dinghy garage. I had no problems this time around, as the anchorage was dead calm.

After removing the outboard, I heaved the dinghy up on the foredeck (using a winch) and secured it for the passage and hurricane season. I don’t think it is going anywhere.
Evening

The high moisture content of the air at all altitudes and unstable conditions meant that there were lots of cumulus clouds around. This, in turn, means great sunset photos.
