2025-05-03 ASW Cleanup day

Morning

On ASW Cleanup day, we were scheduled to depart the Falmouth docks at 09:00 to motor over to English Harbour. Our boat departed a bit late, due to the whole crew (3 of us) lingering over breakfast ashore. The other committee boat departed first. Since its speed was significantly slower than our boat’s, we weren’t too worried about catching up.

In addition to timing our arrival, I knew that Sunsail would take their time to check us in. That turned out to be the case, we waited over an hour after docking before we were given the go-ahead to depart.

Many of the volunteers left today and flew back to their respective home countries and cities. By mid-afternoon only a few of the non-locals were left. Among them was Nigel.

I used some time in the afternoon to clear both Zed and me out of Antigua with destination St. Lucia. Shortly after having taken care of that formality, I received an e-mail from the marina, and they’d raised their prices by over 33% from those of last year. I changed my destination to Jolly Harbour, as that was cheaper despite being on-land vs. in-water storage.

Evening

Zed, Nigel, and I decided to try Trappas once again. With local dock night going on, and the racers having departed, the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Our order arrived promptly and the was tasty indeed.

It was a nice and slow coda to the action of the previous days. ASW Cleanup Day ended early with all of us returning to our respective hotels and boats. We bade farewell to Nigel, as he was returning to Toronto, and Zed and I were headed south for St. Lucia.
