2025-04-02 Emptying my diesel tank

Morning

My morning was spent in online meetings at work and there’s nothing to report from that

Noon and beyond
Canisters

Once work was complete, I started going to all the local chandleries looking for a fuel transfer pump. While they all had electric water pumps, I had no luck locating a diesel/gas pump until the final store and once I saw that they had one in stock I immediately purchased it. My fallback plan was to use my hand pump and a jerry-rigged canister top but that would have entailed about 12-24 hours of work getting the diesel out of my tank – the $400 spent on the pump paid for itself very quickly.

Removing the fuel tank plate

I ran out of canisters and think I have less than 20 litres left in the tank. Since I want some spare diesel jerrycans I’ll get those tomorrow morning and finish off the job. Once that’s finished, I’ll have Antoine assist me in raising the tank in order to locate the leak location and leak type. I hope it is a puncture but believe it will be a crack. The former is much easier to repair.
